How a professional artist paints his home

Author, artist, and master jewelry maker William Claude Harper, who has works of art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, hired Artisan Building Services to give an intimate and very personal look to the plain white walls of his new condo.  Harper spent over an hour shuffling through swatches under the fluorescent lights of a local NYC paint store, carefully choosing the paint before handing off the cans to Artisan Building Services to finish the job.

A striking, deep purple wall color with a flat matte finish.

The ceiling when you walk in, and as you walk down the hallway, was painted a dark green.  The client intentionally wanted a feeling of being closed in when you enter his condo (door off camera to the right of the purple closet doors), with solid purple for walls, doors, and hardware, coupled with the dark green ceiling.

The space really opens up, accentuated with color, from the hallway into the 10 foot high ceilings of the living, dining, and kitchen.

Some walls and doors were left move-in white.  This hallway was asked to be painted the mustard yellow on one side with the doors and trim to remain white, and on the opposite side, the doors and trim are mustard yellow and the wall was left white.
